“A Counselor is a caring, compassionate individual who seeks to understand others.”
Stacy Lovett, Creekview High School Counselor, sees the role of a counselor as a guide. Someone to validate and walk the journey with their students. Lovett is deeply passionate, and cares so much for each one of her students. Her video is at the end of this post.
Lovett’s motto, which she stressed several times during our time with her, is that every student should have someone who believes in them.
“It’s hard,” says Lovett, “but we love our kids.”
Counselors must have a desire and goal to serve others. It’s not a one size fits all service. Success has to be individual for EACH student.
We sat down with Lovett and asked her what it is like to be a school counselor in public education, and why she is so passionate about what she does?
Here are her thoughts:
Next time you are in a school building, make sure to thank your child’s counselor. They do so much to guarantee the success of each student.
